Leadership Transition and Board Changes at OTC Belgium

4 years after the founding of OTC Belgium, our chairman, Dr. Stefan Clockaerts, passes on the torch.
He will remain active as board member for OTC Belgium, but he will also take the function as incoming president for the OTC Foundation.
Dr. Pieter-Jan De Roo will be the new chairman of our association, assisted by board members Prof. Filip Stockmans, Dr. Bernard Struelens, Dr. Nele Roels and Dr. Stefan Clockaerts.
The educational manager of our society remains Delphine Hamers.

OTC I starter course  “Closed fracture treatment & casting techniques”, will take place on Saturday 7th of October at UCL Brussels.

In this Starter course, we will mainly focus on acute and closed fracture treatment, including practical tips and tricks on diagnosis and closed reduction maneuvers. An important aspect of closed fracture management is the application of casts. Therefore, extensive theoretical and hands-on practical sessions regarding plastering will be provided. The course is open to all trainees involved in the initial management of trauma.

OTC III Cadaveric course: Traumatology of the shoulder (This course has been completed)

We have the pleasure to invite you to our intermediate course about traumatology of the shoulder. which will take place on Tuesday 9 May 2023 in ORSI, Melle.
The focus of this course are osteosynthesis techniques including intramedullary, external and plate fixation of complex intra-article fractures of the shoulder. The course handles both theoretical and practical cadaveric session.

OTC IV advanced course:  Lower limb mal-and non unions: causes and optimal treatment
The OTC IV advanced course is going to take place on 17th December 2022 at UCL Brussels (Maisin auditorium).

The course focusses on the approach of complications in trauma of the lower limb. We are honoured to welcome Dr. Gilbert Taglang from the OTCF as guest speaker.

We provide the opportunity for residents to present a case on this topic.

The course focusses on fracture treatment with closed reduction techniques, casting and discuss topics in the diagnosis and conservative treatment of fractures. It involves both theoretical and practical workshops.

Target group: first and second year residents
Participants limited to 30.

OTC F leadership forum Vienna
The OTC F Leadership Forum is going to take place on 1st July 2022 under the chairmanship of OTC Austria, Dr. Ernst Mueller & Dr. Georg Mattiassich together with OTC F President, Dr. Oliver Trapp.

The afternoon program on “Controversies in femoral fractures” is scheduled from 1 PM to 4 PM CET. It will be possible to follow the session via Zoom.

OTC II Basic course – wrist and ankle

We invite you to a basic course which will take place on Friday 1st April 2022 in Kortrijk.
This course includes theoretical sessions on basic principles of fracture fixation in the morning and cadaveric sessions with approaches and external fixation in the afternoon. You will find the detailed programme here.

International OTC Foundation meets in Brussels

The 6th November, OTC societies from all over the world come together in Brussels for the annual meeting of OTCF. During this event, we will officially announce the founding of OTC Belgium.
